The Crown and Anchor Pub in Algiers Point is alive and well, and under new management!
Ever dream of running a Pub? Probably most Englishmen have. Neil Timms, from Coventry, is now living the dream, and is thrilled to be owner of the Crown and Anchor Pub in Algiers Point since early 2010. Along with his delightful Bulgarian-born wife Albena, Neil is a hands-on publican, spending as much time as he can on both sides of the bar at the Crown and Anchor, making sure his patrons are having a good time.
The Crown and Anchor has long been known as the most authentic British Pub in this part of the country. It's a real neighborhood pub - a meeting place. The atmosphere will remind any Brit of places back home.
Mondays and Tuesdays are Darts Tournaments nights. Each Thursday at 8 p.m. you can bring your group out to play Pub Quiz. Watching events on TV like the Superbowl and World Cup Soccer with a crowd at the Pub will make it all that more special. And festivities like Mardi Gras, St. Patrick's Day, Halloween and New Years at the Pub are not to be missed. This year they celebrated Cinquo de Mayo as "Uno de Mayo" so it would be on a weekend.
The Pub serves draft beers, bottled beers, single malt scotch, wines and mixed drinks. They have a variety of British beers, including Bass, Boddingtons, Guinness, Harp and Newcastle Brown Ale. They are located at the intersection of Pelican and Bouny, close enough to the Ferry Landing for East Bankers to use the ferry.
