Maggie, in Guy Fawkes Chapter found this really interesting site: www.imagesofengland.org.uk. Thanks, Maggie!

The site is run by the National Monuments Record, the public archive of English Heritage. The goal of the site is to eventually cover all 360,000 listed buildings in England, with information about each, all searchable in several different categories.

What is a listed building?

Listed buildings are designated by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport as being of "special architectural or historic interest." You cannot alter or demolish a listed building without permission.
