![]() S P O T L I G H T O N L I V E R P O O L We've discovered two sites full of wonderful photos of Liverpool that we want to introduce to you. For all homesick ex-Scousers, and everyone who appreciates looking at scenes of the UK, enjoy the delights of www.liverpoolpictorial.co.uk (which might give you the impression that Liverpool is nothing but pubs and churches - but explore the site for some real gems!) and www.liverpoolphotos.com. The Liver bird (on top of the Liver Building,) the official mascot of Liverpool, actually refers to cormorants (seaweed birds) which could sometimes be seen flying alongside the Mersey River with seaweed in their beaks. The Royal Liver Building is still the Head Office for the Royal Liver Friendly Society.
www.liverpoolpictorial.co.uk offers much more than wonderful photographs. You can read about how Southport Pier has been saved, and find out about the excavations at Fort Perch Rock. There's lots of other Liverpool background, including a piece on Battling Bessie Braddock, the Labour MP for Liverpool Exchange for 24 years.
www.liverpoolphotos.com is a photographic site of the highest quality. If you feel homesick for Liverpool - it's the place to go! All these photos appear with permission of the photographers, and we encourage you to spend time at both these sites. It will be well worth it. Finally - congratulations to the city of Liverpool, which was named the 2008 European Capital of Culture. Make plans to be there, and enjoy the festivities! ![]() ©2000-2004 DBE in Louisiana, Inc.
