For a comfortable blend of two hospitable cultures, try staying at House of the Rising Sun Bed and Breakfast, and be warmly welcomed by Cockney Kevin Herridge, from East London, and Cajun Wendy Portier Herridge, from right here in Louisiana.
Built in 1896, this recently renovated "shotgun double" home in historic Algiers Point is located within a few minutes walk of the free ferry across the Mississippi to the New Orleans French Quarter.
While you are staying in this beautifully decorated home, you can enjoy a leisurely breakfast on the Deck looking across the back garden - a delightful work in progress. Even Buddha by the pond, is decorated with his Mardi Gras beads. |

Kevin, a music buff, came to this country for Mardi Gras, met Wendy, and the rest, as they say, is history. And history is now Kevin's passion! He is President of the Algiers Historical Society, and is currently researching and writing a book on the Jazz history of Algiers. He is an inexhaustible source of information on local jazz and history, and offers guided walking tours, or will help guests customize their own jazz experience.
