DECEMBER RECIPE OF THE MONTH
Thanks to Joy, of Chaucer chapter for an original recipe: Blue Cheese, Pear and Walnut Flan. She served this dish at our last chapter meeting. It's a great recipe. As you can see in the picture, we had already started enjoying it before the picture was taken!

BLUE CHEESE, PEAR AND WALNUT FLAN
2 ripe pears, chopped (with or without skin)
2-4 oz chopped walnuts
4 - 6 oz crumbled blue cheese
3 eggs, beaten
2 TBSP flour
4 fl. oz. milk
Black pepper and salt to taste
Favorite pastry recipe for 9"-10" pie or quiche plate
Roll our pastry, fit to plate, prick and bake 10-15 minutes at 350*
Remove from oven and add pears, walnuts and cheese to partially baked crust.
Beat eggs, milk, flour and seasonings, and pour into pastry shell.
Bake at 375* for 35 - 40 minutes. Best served warm.
Joy says . . . "If you like blue cheese, this is wonderful. If not, just substitute another kind of cheese."
