AUGUST RECIPE OF THE MONTH
CHEESE STRAWS (OR WAFERS)

1 C flour
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 C shortening or butter
1/2 C shredded Cheddar cheese
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
Preheat oven to 350*
Mix ingredients together as though making pastry, adding a little cold water to get the right consistency.
Cut into 4" long strips, 1/8" wide.
OR cut into rectangular wafers (as in picture) and score (if you have the gizmo!)
Bake on baking sheet sprayed with Pam, about 10 minutes.
Cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes before removing carefully.
